We need everyone to do their part by self-distancing from each other to control the spread of the virus. According to the CDC, the elderly and those with severe underlying medical conditions such as heart or lung diseases and diabetes are at higher risk of developing severe complications from exposure to COVID-19. While there currently is no vaccine to prevent COVID-19, but the best way to prevent illness is to avoid exposure. The disease is believed to spread between people in close contact with each other (about 6 feet). Furthermore, the virus is spread when an infected person coughs or sneezes, and respiratory droplets land on the mouths, noses, or are inhaled into the lungs of those nearby. In addition to practicing self-distancing, everyone should make sure they are practicing efficient hygiene practices such as:
Washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
Using hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
Avoid touching the eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
Avoid close contact with other
Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as handles, tables, phones, toilets, sinks, and light switches, doorknobs, and keyboards
